I asked them a few quick questions I could think of and they are provided here also. I am sure there are more that you have, so please add them to the ND and/or DNA listerve threads., They want to move forward with the purchase soon. So please have your voice heard by May 15th

These are some quick questions I asked and the answers provided by Gary Gregson of Parks Department:-

“When is this project going to be completed?”
Our goal is to have the new equipment installed and the playground reopened by late August or early September. The equipment will likely take six to eight weeks to deliver once the order is placed, which we want to do before May 20. Installation will also take six to eight weeks.

“Is this a part of a larger project? If so, what will that involve?”
No. This project is only to replace the play equipment. However, the project will trigger some accessibility improvements (e.g. the ADA accessible parking spots will have to be brought into compliance with Texas Accessibility Standards, and the pathway from the parking spots to the playground will have to be graded).

“What, if any, are the other immediate plans for the park?”
At this time, no other capital improvements are planned for Gillis Neighborhood Park.

“is there an overview of intent to explain this to the public?”
The existing play equipment has outlived its useful life and is beginning to show signs of deterioration. Also, the Parks and Recreation Department is in the process of transitioning all of its playground safety surfacing from pea gravel to Engineered Wood Fiber (similar to wood mulch).

“Should we just have people email you?”
Email would be preferable because that correspondence can be saved in the project file for future reference. Telephone calls are also welcomed.
